The Double Entry Accounting Test from Accountest is a fast, simple and efficient way to determine if your candidate has a good grasp of the basics of double entry accounting (i.e. debits and credits). The accounting test is ideal for entry level positions or for slightly higher level positions where you may wish to check the candidates' basic accounting skills.
Recruiting managers will gain insight into a candidate's skills and knowledge in each of these four activities. The accounting tests report provides an overall performance score, as well as a rating for the individual questions. This allows recruiters to identify particular areas of strength or weakness. This report is generated from the candidate’s responses to 20 questions taking transactions and identifying the correct journal entry, taking a journal entry and identifying the underlying transaction and basic financial statement interpretation.
The test can be used with accountants at any level, but is tailored for those at the start of their accounting career, or who need to show they have a grasp of basic accounting concepts.

What's Covered
The Double Entry Accounting test is suitable for all tax regimes and covers four areas:
- Easy Journals – identifying journals from easy transactions
- Harder Journals – identifying journals from harder transactions
- Financial Statements – identifying where accounts will be found in financial statements
- Transactions – from a journal entry identifying the transaction that has occurred
Lasting only 15 minutes, questions are randomly selected from a question bank so individual candidates are unlikely to see the same test.
